SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On the above date and time, Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to a single vehicle crash on VT Route 18 in the town of Waterford.  Through investigation it was determined the operator, Jacob Patterson, lost control of the while negotiating a corner.  The vehicle slid into an embankment and trees on the west side of the highway, causing serious damage to the vehicle.  A passenger sustained minor injury to a lower extremity and was transported to NVRH.  Speed was a primary contributing factor of the crash.

Vermont State Police provides update on incident in Leicester

 

LEICESTER, Vermont (Monday, June 5, 2023) — State police are continuing to investigate an incident in which one man was killed and another wounded late Sunday in Leicester.

 

Both men were victims of a shooting. The injured man initially was treated at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury and then flown by helicopter to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, where he was listed in critical but stable condition Monday morning. An autopsy is pending for the deceased victim. Their identities will be released as the investigation continues.

 

Initial investigation indicates the shooting was a targeted event directed at the victims, and there is no broader threat to the general public. Today the Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team will process the location where the shooting occurred, a property at 1352 U.S. Route 7. Police are continuing to seek a suspect or suspects tied to this incident, along with a black Nissan sedan that was seen leaving the area after the shooting.

 

The state police would like to speak to anyone who might have seen something suspicious or out of the ordinary between 9:30-10 p.m. Sunday near the location where the shooting occurred. The Vermont State Police is investigating an incident in which one person was killed and a second person was injured Sunday night, June 4, 2023, in Leicester.

 

The investigation began following a 911 call at about 9:55 p.m. Sunday reporting a disturbance on U.S. Route 7. Responding law-enforcement officers discovered one man dead at the scene and a second suffering from injuries. The injured man was taken to the hospital, and his condition is currently unknown.

 

VSP is investigating a report that a black Nissan sedan was seen leaving the area.

 

This investigation is in its earliest stages and involves members of the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Field Force Division and Victim Services Unit. The Crime Scene Search Team will respond on Monday morning. Police departments from Brandon and Middlebury are providing assistance.

 

Following processing of the crime scene by CSST, the victim’s body will be brought to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

 

No one is currently in custody. The identities of the people involved will be released following further investigation and notification of relatives.

                On the above listed date and time, The Vermont State Police, Newport City Police Department, Derby Line Fire and Newport EMS, responded to the above area for a report of a two vehicle crash.  Operator #1 was identified as Laura Gray and operator #2 was identified as Brandon Davio.  Investigation revealed Gray was traveling on Crawford Road in the direction of the Interstate 91 Access Road in the Town of Derby.  Gray then failed to yield to oncoming traffic at the intersection of Crawford Road and I 91 Access Road, crashing into Davio who was traveling east on the I 91 Access Road.  Both vehicles were totaled from the collision.  Gray and Davio were transported to North Country Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Vermont State Police identifies victims of shooting in Leicester

 

LEICESTER, Vermont (Tuesday, June 6, 2023) — As the investigation continues into Sunday’s shooting in Leicester, the Vermont State Police is identifying the deceased victim as Scott Lanpher, 35, and the injured man as his 31-year-old brother, Larry Lanpher Jr. Both men lived on the property on U.S. Route 7 where the shooting occurred.

 

An autopsy performed Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington determined the cause of Scott Lanpher’s death was gunshot wounds to the upper body, and the manner of death was a homicide.

 

Larry Lanpher Jr. remains hospitalized at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

 

The Crime Scene Search Team has completed its processing of the property where the shooting occurred, and investigators have interviewed witnesses and acquaintances of the victims, reviewed video and conducted a neighborhood canvass. No arrests have been made. Police believe this incident was confined to 1352 U.S. Route 7, and there is no danger to the community.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On 6 June 2023, the Vermont State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on US Route 7 in the Town of Pittsford.

 

Troopers identified Operator #1 as Christopher Sepaniak, Age 54 of Erie, PA. Troopers determined through investigation, Operator 1 was traveling south when he observed a deer in the roadway and swerved to avoid striking it. Operator #1 left the roadway via the west shoulder, striking a power pole and causing power lines to block the entirety of US RT 7. Troopers observed several indicators of impairment and screened Sepaniak for DUI. Sepaniak was subsequently taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence and transported to the Rutland City Police Department for processing. Sepaniak was released with a citation to appear in Rutland Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date and time.
